We will do a theatrical project in the form of a time/space travel (different era). There will be 5 different theatrical tableaux, filmed. Between each scene, a transition through a kind of time gate will mark the passage to another universe. Other information:
- one tableau per class involved (so 5), linked to the others by a link (idea of a time portal or time travel by touching an object for example);
- each tableau linked to the RAS of the different curricula;
- the tableaux will be filmed at the time chosen by each teacher, independent approach;
- subject of the tableaux that touches Fransaskoisie (an important personality, a place, a song, etc.);
- humour integrated into the tableaux;
- the tableaux will be filmed at the time chosen by each teacher;

Monseigneur de Laval Elementary School is a Francophone school in a minority setting. Currently, 407 students are enrolled, from pre-school (60 students) to grade 6 (345), an increase of 16 students to date, making this institution the largest school in the Conseil des écoles fransaskoises (CEF). Our school is an example of cultural diversity represented by our students and staff. They come from many countries and provinces. Immigration is therefore very present in our school. While diversity is present, the vast majority of parents live in the city. The socio-economic background of the families is also very varied. Our school promotes cultural and linguistic diversity. The teaching staff is known for its spirit of collegiality, cooperation and mutual aid. At Monseigneur de Laval School, we make sure that cultural and linguistic identity is at the forefront. The school firmly believes that every student can succeed; this is why we are an inclusive school that puts the student at the center of its concerns, which is reflected in the implementation of a pedagogical offer that meets the needs of each learner. Each staff member ensures the well-being of each child and provides an environment conducive to learning so that the student can learn to grow to his/her full potential. This year, we continue to face the challenge of accommodating many students who do not speak English or French and some of whom have no experience with a Canadian school system.
Tell us about the importance of learning through play for your team and for your students.
This project will implement game-based learning in a culture of inquiry that is promoted in all Saskatchewan curricula. The team plans to use drama, as play is rooted in creativity and innovation, to explore Saskatchewan’s Francophone identity, history, and cultural references. Students will be asked to write and perform comedic skits. Several groups of students will be asked to:
- Write the script;
- Designate actors and share roles;
- Designing the sets;
- Create the costumes;
- Team that will film all the steps of the process, editing, lights…
- Perform for students, parents and community;
This project will allow students to ask and answer questions in a fun way. This project will allow for a lot of student participation.
