CPSN Workshop (Virtual) : Disruptors in the School System: What are we doing to drive transformative change? – Nicola Ngarewa, Pak Tee Ng and Pasi Sahlberg

In the context of the school system, disruptors can be teachers, administrators, policymakers, parents, or students who advocate for innovative approaches to education and push for change. The CPSN is thrilled to have three of our International Advisory Board members, all disruptors in their own educational contexts, join us in leading this workshop.

In his works, Pak Tee Ng convincingly argues for the pursuit of creativity and innovation within contexts of large-scale assessment in Singapore.

As a former principal and currently the Chair of New Zeland’s largest school for early childhood to secondary, Nicola Ngarewa has been instrumental in dismantling parts of the school system that have contributed to student attrition and teacher burnout, focusing on approaches that promote student-centered learning, alternative assessments and inclusive practices.

Pasi Sahlberg continually challenges the status quo by providing compelling outcome-based evidence on the power of play, creativity and collaboration in the Finnish Education system.

With workshop participants, our advisors will examine the challenges and barriers that disruptors face, such as resistance to change, lack of resources, and bureaucratic obstacles. What are examples of successful disruptions in YOUR school setting?
